THE IMPACT THEORY -- (ALVAREZ HYPOTHESIS)
One of the great mysteries in science is the extinction of the Dinosaurs at the end of the Mesozoic Era. Scientists have always debated what event or events caused the demise of the Dinosaurs. At the beginning of the Mesozoic Era Dinosaurs started to appear and dominated all forms of life. Fossil records shown in the lower strata of rock contains the earliest and most primitive species of Dinosaur, and the upper strata contains the newer species. But then at the Cretaceous-Tertiary, the Dinosaurs are nowhere to be found. What happened to the Dinosaurs?

This where the Alvarez hypothesis comes into effect. In the 1980's the father-son team of Luis and Walter Alvarez discovered a layer of Iridium at the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary. Iridium is rare on Earth, but abundant in meteorites. The Alvarezs' suggested that a huge asteroid or comet, perhaps miles in diameter, hit the Earth at that time. The result of such an impact would be an eno

Once upon a time there were lots of dinosaurs. Like, really lots. You couldn't turn around without tripping over a dinosaur. In fact, the second leading cause of caveman death was tripping over a dinosaur. (The first leading cause, of course, was getting eaten by a dinosaur). Well, anyway, all of a sudden there were some changes in the oceans. I don't know why. Maybe caused by dinopoop runoff, but I'm just guessing. One day the dinosaurs went down to the ocean to look at changes. While they were standing around on the beach, a huge meteor flew overhead and crashed with a horrible explosion in present day Kansas. The dinosaurs were so happy they were spared meteor death that they started jumping up and down on the beach. This caused a tsunami which swept them all into the stinky brown waters of the ocean never to be seen again. And that's how they got extinct.

Take your theory about the oceans and expand on it. You managed to write a lengthy question that was understandable. Just do the same thing explaining why you think the dinosaurs are extinct. What made the oceans change? How did they change? Was anything else affected?
Do you think the oceans could change again?

Wait....you told me your theory, dinos became extinct because of changes in the ocean. Then you ask me to compare yours to the impact theory.

Well..what is the impact theory??? How can I compare your theory to another you havn't explained?

perhaps a large volcano erupted and dumped too many "greenhouse gases" into the atmosphere and caused the polar caps to melt? causing a desalination of the oceans and an ice age occured
