i had purchased mustard oil (dhara product) sme time back. now i don't remember when, i don't have the oil pouch\ cover with me

my question is,
how many mths can it be preserved? and
how to find out if the date is expired, (do we have any test to find out if the oil is fit to use or not for cooking?)
is it save to conserve after the date of expiry?

Most types of cooking oil can be kept up to about 3 years if you keep it away from heat or sunlight. You can still use the oil if it's appearance is still clear without settlements and has not turn gelatin like in texture. For mustard oil, you would know instantly if it has gone bad by the smell of the oil.

Smell test is the best. And yes, when in doubt, discard.
It's important that you stay fit, not the oil!
