I haven't had a nose bleed since i was like little im 16 and i woke up this morning and then got a nose bleed. I was just like whatever but then like an hour ago as I was washing my face I got it again and with a chunk of blood in it. Nose bleeds aren't common for me and I don't see any reason why I got it. Any ideas?

3 biggest causes of nosebleeds are hot dry weather like santa ana winds, frequent nasal blowing- colds, hayfever, allergies etc. , and nasal picking. Old blood turns into a blood clot -not to worry unless frequent bleeds or not able to stop bleeding.
For a nosebleed, gently blow nose to remove clots, then pinch nose at widest part for 3-5 minutes by the clock. May repeat if not effective.
Good luck, RN in Ca.

You have the same problem as me.

I never get nose bleeds either (getting punched in the nose doesn't count lol) anyways........

lately I have been getting bad nose bleeds too for the last 3 days. Yes including chunks of blood that gushes out and it never seems to stop so I went to the doctor and he gave me a nose spray, but did not tell me why I was getting them.

Then I found out that it was caused by a broken or popped blood vessel in my nose. Kind of sounds like that is what you got for the chunks of blood coming out. If so it will heal by its self

This can be caused by

dry conditions
strain on your nose (blowing)

well........

Those are the only ones, I know of but there are other ones

what you can do to help it is....

Use a Q-tip and put polysporin on to help keep it most and heal.

If you live in a cold climate and have your furnace on, the air in your house is very dry, and so are your nasal passages.
When I lived in the desert and had the heat on in the winter, I had nose bleeds almost every day.

Don't know why you got it. But I know how to a nose bleed. Generally putting a wet rag on your neck slows the bleeding.
