I just started the prescription "Topamax" today for my Migraine headaches. I'm wondering what side effects anyone had and how severe they were. I heard weight loss was a big side effect. Did anyone experience this or any other side effects?

Well, I just started using Topamax 2 and a half weeks ago and I can already notice a difference. I have suffered from migranes for a long time and I am tired. The only side effects I have noticed so far are the tingling sensations in my feet and my tastes have changed. I no longer like sodas, but they aren't good for you anyway. I started getting a headache the other day and took some over-the-counter medicine, and it knocked it right out. That's never happened. So I would rather deal with a few side effects than deal with the migranes and headaches any day!!!!!!!

I've had migraines now for quite a while and have been on many medications, topamax being one of them. I took it for almost 3 months with no migraine relief. The main side effect that I remember was being almost "zombie" like. I felt, for lack of a better word, "blah". I didn't have any weight loss. I just remember always being sleepy and when I was awake not quite feeling up. Everyone reacts differently to medication. I would say that you should stick with it because the doctor has prescribed it for you, however if you notice it not working or the side effects are to drastic you should speak to your doctor about it. I am now on injections for my migraines and wouldn't give them up for anything. I am currently using single dose imitrex injections and love it, finally after years I have some relief. Hello -- My son has epilepsy and used to take the medication
Topamax. I got his dr. to take him off as it had really bad side effects. I suggest to go to WEB MD and check it out I did.
You really need to do your research on this. Topamax has
a very long list of side effects. It may help some people,
but it dind't help my son.
