Tai Chi Chuan is a Chinese Martial Art. It is an "internal" art as it works on the development of the power of an inner energy called "Chi" for it's most effective and impressive abilities.

It arose out of Taoist and Buddhist philosophies and was cultivated in the monastaries but does not itself have a religious basis. The practice and teaching of tai chi is often not linked to or in conjunction with religious practices.
