There is a wonderful brand called Natures Garden flea and tick control. You squirt it down the back. It is made out of all natrual ingredients and works great. Try it. You can get it at Wal-Mart. Or you can get a flea and tick collar.

Yes, it is flea season for all hairy mammals. If you find you have fleas here is a much better way to get rid of those pesky critters without using all that toxic stuff. I guarantee, you'll get a cold or the flu within ten days of using toxic bombs, etc.. You can use a safer product that won't make you sick, but, will certainly kill the fleas. And please, don't put a flea collar on your cat. They are really terrible to your cats health and really don't do a lot about the fleas. If you want to make a couple of phone calls to some of your local health food stores, ask for Diamatsicus Earth (I know I spelled this incorrectly) or DE for short. It is a powder. There are two kinds. Do not use the kind for outdoor pool maintenance.

This stuff really works. It even kills cockroaches. How it works: It is made from ground shells, which penetrate the insects hard outer shell, causing them to dehydrate and then die. It never expires either. Just spread it lightly around the baseboards, and after vacuuming, in the carpet. You won't have to leave your house either. What a bonus that is.

Also, treat the lawn with lime. You can get it at a home building supplier (Home Depot, etc) or garden supply stores. You just put it in a plastic gallon container, like a milk jug, and put holes in the bottom and fill the container with the lime. Then shake it around the yard, or use a fertilizer spreader, if you have one. Do this in the spring and fall and your chances of fleas in the house will be minimized greatly.

If all this sounds like too much, then go to the website below for products that will kill fleas, but won't make you or your cat sick.

Unless you live in the far north it's still flea season, and it's really still tick season.

Fleas start in the spring after the winter freezes are over and they multiply throughout the warm seasons until the frost of the next winter kills them off. They've been multiplying since early spring and unless you're far enough north that you're already having freezing temperatures at night, they're still around and there are more of them now than there have been all year. There will keep being more and more until their winter population crash happens, then there will be none.

Ticks are odd critters. Unlike other little exotherms (such as fleas) they don't thrive in hot, humid summer weather, and they handle cold weather pretty well. Their population booms in the spring like other insects, but instead of continuing to multiply throughout the year, they have a population crash in the summer. They're still around in the summer but their numbers are reduced considerably. In the fall, when the hot humid weather is over, they have another population boom. Once they make their fall comeback they stay around longer, too. While fleas are usually finished off by the first hard frost, ticks can hang around until the ground is consistently frozen. So flea season will be over pretty soon in most latitudes, but tick season still has a while to go.

He may have ear mites. On the fleas,if he's an inside cat, fleas stay all year round.A person normely wont keep the household timp cold enough to rid fleas.I'd check on the ear mites though.

are you giving him a monthly flea protection? Go to the vet and he'll sell you Frontline most likely...I suggest that you don't give your cat over the counter flea medication, some cats are allegic and sometimes even die from being poisoned by the flea shampoo

You will see fleas and ticks all year if they get in your house. Flea lay eggs in your house and lay dormate in your house. Have your cat checked by your vet and get a flea/tick preventative
