As recommended, head for Pratunam wholesale market. However the better quality clothes and over-runs are found in the shops in the nearby buildings and hotels! Just go to the fringe around the market and walk into these shops to look for what you want.

For the cloths

"Patunahm" area is located with the many shopping building, you walk around them to buy and find many wholesaler i.e.

Platinum, Bai-Yok tower, Indra, .. perhaps you may take a whole day for sight seeing all of them..

Patunahm also near by "Pantip Plaza" it is the IT shopping Center.. there you can find the cheap IT components..

World Trade center, Isetan, they are the same area can get there by walk if you are not too tired

PRATUNAM really the place for wholesale .What u need is just asked for 3 pieces for how much ? thats mean the wholesale priced. For clothes.
The Phahurat and Chinatown districts have interconnected markets selling tonnes of fabrics, clothes and as well selling jewellery.
The Chatuchak weekend Market was another nice place to be as everything is sold there.

Pratunam area has a 4 or 5 big shopping mall, I cannot remember but I suggest you go to Platinum Shopping mall. It's quite new and has more fashionable clothes. It's located beside Pantip Plaza; the biggest IT shopping mall.

Bangkok IS Shopping. Everywhere you go you will be amazed at the low prices for everything. Great outdoor markets and fabulous malls. Just ask hotel people where to go.

Prathunam Market is the PLACE.
Learn the art of haggling.
Deal with them by cutting the price 50%.
Start with half the price.
Don't stay with only one store.
Walk around and look for the cheapest price.

Prathunam Market and Bo-Bay good for shopping not expensive.

for clothes, it's definitely Bobai (Bo-bay). It's open only from about 1am or 2am to about 6am, but it is the wholesale market for all the clothing vendors (although they will sell to anyone), so VERY cheap.
