original sin is something we are born with ..we are carnal at birth, if you do not believe that, just watch any two or three year old..You do not have to teach a children how to lie..we do it quite naturally, and they know its wrong! they also know it is wrong to raise their pudgy little hand to their mother or father, you can tell by the look on their faces when they do. The bible doesn't say the word Rapture but most Christians understand it and accept it. Once sin entered into the world we all inherited that gene (so to speak) you might also what to read a few more verses ..like Exodus 20:5 or Exodus 34:7...yes it says we will die for our own sins( by the law, and thank God we are not under the law) but that does not say that curses are not passed on from one generation to another and usually the children commit the same sins as their Father.(Mother) ..hence "The sword shall never depart from your house".(2 Samuel 12:10) Ps if orignal sin does not exist..and one person (Adam) did not bring it into the world, then one person Jesus can not take it away>

Original Sin specifically refers to children who have not been able to justify their salvation or condemnation to the Lord by their faith, thus the faith or lack there of the parents falls upon them until such a time.

Exodus 34
5 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."

Ezekiel 18 is referring to the fact that justification of salvation came through the redemption of sins with the old covenant and that a righteous man is rewarded by his righteousness and a wicked man is punished for his wickedness.

Deuteronomy 24 bears the same meaning as the verse in Ezekiel but is used in context regarding when someone is guilty of another's sin, in this case saying that a son is not guilty for the sins their father commits.

Most People think Sinning sends you to Hell---WRONG.

When Adam Ate from the Tree---he sinned (disobeyed GOD).
But the Sin brought a Curse on Adam.
IT MESSED UP ADAMS SPIRIT.
That messed up Spirit is what sends you to Hell.
Adam Actually became a LOST Person. (Adam was Born-Again Later, After Jesus Died on the Cross).
That Messed Up Spirit was Passed to Everybody Else Since Adam.
Gotta get that Thing Recreated (Saved, Born-Again) by Believing in Jesus.
Jesus is the Only One Who can Recreate your Spirit, and HE has to have your Permission to Recreate you.
religions cannot Recreate you.

Everybody sins.
Saved People sin, on purpose and unknowingly.
Lost People sin.
That messed up Spirit will keep you out of Heaven.
Don't Leave the Earth for Good, without getting that Spirit Recreated.
Know you know.

Those verses do not deal with original sin, or, the fall of Adam. Both verses talk about actual sin, or personal sin, which is something totally different.

This concept is not shared by all churches.

There was no major dissent from the biblical teaching about the fall of Adam until the rise of Pelagianism in the last part of the fourth century. Pelagius denied that Adam was endowed with the supernatural life of grace, which he lost for himself and his descendants by his sin of disobedience. To counteract this error, a series of Church councils were held. Not only was Pelagius condemned, but several popes confirmed the Catholic doctrine on original sin, stating:
Adam was the first man.
He was created immortal.
His bodily death was a punishment for sin (Pope Zozimus I, 418).

Adam’s sin was injurious not only to Adam, but also to his descendants. Moreover, it was not only the death of the body, which is punishment for sin, but sin, the death of the soul, that passed from one man to all the human race (Pope Boniface II, 531)

A thousand years later, the Protestant reformers brought back Pelagius’s ideas. As a result, the Council of Trent issued its famous Decree on Original Sin.

The Christians are still stuck in the Garden of Eden Tale of EVE eating of the fruit of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and giving some to ADAM.
I could be wrong but I think it goes back to when God let the souls that It had made into the Physical universe and entering the Physical things that were there and enjoying the sensations so much that they forgot how to leave and were they had come from.

Because it what got the ball rolling. So, it was original.
Example; The original "Funnel Cakes" many make them now using different recipes, they not the same, and, they not the original, but, they still are funnel cakes.
So, there was the original sin from Adam and Eve, but, the Bible says for all have sinned, we may not make the original sin, but, it still sin.
We not need to be concerned about the sins of our fathers, we sin on our own.

Romans 5:12, Therefore, just as sin entered the world through 1 man (Adam), and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned-----

Romans 5:18, Consequently, just as the result of one trespass (Adam) was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness (Jesus) was justification that brings life for all men-----.

The original sin is why Jesus died as a sacrifice on the cross for us. He is the only sacrifice that brings man back to God.

Maguyver, (the post below mine) says it all. I totally agree that this is what the Bible teaches.

Why because the bible says so. :P
Original sin just means that human beings have a fallen nature, not that because Adam screwed up we are in big trouble. Everyone sins and you can't just make up for it by being good, this is not homework this is justice.
A murderer can not say, "Well gee Judge I never lied to the guy doesn't that count so something? Oh and I was always nice to my mother and I saved a kitten from drowning once."
Will the judge say, "Oh I see your really a nice person, Case dismissed"
No and God won't either.

Original sin=Adam and Eve turned from God and brought sin into the world. Ever sicne we have had sin, every person since conception, except Christ.

Dieing for each man's sin is drawing a boundary. I'm not responsible for you robbin the bank. You go to jail for your own crime. Likewise, if you are an unbeliever and I warn you about your unbelief but you still don't turn to God, you die for your sin and I'm not responsible for that.

It depends on what you mean by original sin. If you mean Original sin as in an inherent guilt, by which all humanity is guilty of sin as soon as their life begins, then I would say that I for one don't believe in it. However, if you are talking about the inherent corruption that causes us to sin (and is passed down from generation to generation, starting with Adam and the Fall of man), then I'd say we believe in it because it is written that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We are all prone to sin, that's clear for anyone to see.
