I need help, I am running 1.5 miles to 2 miles a few times a week. I cant seem to break past that. My muscles are fine and I dont get tired muscle wise, but i cant keep my breathing regulated to keep going. Can anyone help me with suggestions please?? I have 6 weeks left to run a good 1.5 mile. Am I right for trying to run 3 miles to improve my 1.5 mile?

In general it is easier to add distance than to add speed. You should have no problems running 4-5 miles if you can easily run 2 miles. To run faster you need to do speed work. If you are trying to run 1.5 miles fast do a lot of speed work and run long distance once or twice a week.

regular runner not an expert advises you to carry on as you are; increasing the distance over a short time might undo some of the things your body has learnt to do already.
good luck
