Well you used to be able to go to south street seaport but they moved the fish market to Hunt's point. Don't know if you can go there to buy fish if you aren't a purveyor.

Lots of the fancier seafood is imported and you might have to be wholesale to buy it...

But ... local fishing boats in Sheapshead Bay Brooklyn take almost off every morning and every evening and fish stuff right out of the Atlantic. You can even grab your fishing pole and go along for the ride.

OK i don't quite know the name of the place but, i do know that its located on 23and 6 ave. its a restaurant with glass doors and blue edging, next too a flower shop/ deli. i do know its a few blocks before you meet Chelsea Piers. a bf and i went their once an the food was the best thing at 2:00 in the morning. and TRUST I LOVE SEAFOOD.
