Oh but Jesus is not a made up story. So I have nothing to worry about.

People should not give this question any thought, because Jesus is not a made up story. It is true !! So I won't even take one second to think about what it would mean to me. I just want to shoot down any other theory. . Jesus is the Truth, the Light and the Way.

Nothing. I have acted on this assumption most of my life. I was devastated at age 6 when somebody was cruel enough to tell me that Santa Claus was a made-up story. But I figured out the same thing about Jesus all by myself when I was old enough to reason it out.

What it meant then and means now is that I am free of all the religious hangups and prejudices and guilt and other baggage that believers have to deal with. It means that I can accept the evidence of my own eyes, ears, and brain without having to reject reality to make it not conflict with religion. It means I can be the person I always wanted to be - free of superstition and delusions. It means that I can do the right and moral thing because it is right and moral, not because I am afraid of hellfire.

Nope, no difference to me at all - I remain a very contented non-believer.

If Jesus was made up then so what.
I would die knowing I followed Godly values and a life of love, helping others and forginvess. no harm.
What if He's real and Hell is real, is it worth it.

I would rather live my life believing there is a GOD and die and find out there isn't, than live like there is not a GOD and die and find out there is.
Even if there isn't I'll still serve Him. My faith isnt' about getting to heaven it's about knowing Him.

St. Paul gives us the answer and it reflects my own feelings.

" If Christ be raised your faith is in vain, you are yet in your sins" ( 1 Cor. 15:17) If Jesus is not who he claimed to be we are lost, we have no hope. "But Christ now is risen" (1Cor 15:20)

A searching question, however, the answer gives me hope. He lives and because he lives, I can face tomorrow, my sins are forgiven and I look forward to that day when I shall see him face to face

If it was a made up story I wouldn't have paid attention to it in the first place.

In 2 Timothy read the following and see if you see yourself there.

Chapter 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

THERE IS HOPE FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING YOU

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

I was really bummed when I learned that Captain Kirk was made up. This was in 1971. I still have trouble with it.
