It is interesting that this new category of "emo" has arisen in recent years. When I was in high school, I often wore all black and had stringy dark hair, but Iooked (and was treated) more like young Severus Snape (a female version). In 1983, you might have been labeled weird, as I was, not even knowing the label "goth" back then. Nowadays, it is more in the mainstream and not weird at all. I would say your style choices make you less of a flamboyant goth (like those who wear the whole 18th century vampire getup for instance), but there are SO many styles just within the Goth subcategory. As for the "emo" style, I'm not expert enough to differentiate. Hope that helps!

During the dark ages of the 80's I wore mostly all black to school because I hated those gross neon colors. At the time there were no goths or emos. Do whatever makes you comfortable. It might just be a phase and if it looks good on you who cares.

no, the catagory would be more emo. Goth is when your really dark, and worship the devil and stuff like that. Otherwise, it's just emo. And, it's not weird, look at all the bands now adays that where black and wear black makeup. Then look at all the people out in the audience, you're not alone in the way you dress.

no, its in right now. its chic not gothic. but honestly if you come into school wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans is anyone going to think your gothic? people are steadily forgetting what gothic is. its not a fashion trend its a lifestyle. but black and silver glitter will be fine.

Yes you are weird. You are a wanna be Goth, but are not going all the way. Goths are common, not unique at all. Why not truly find out who you are and be yourself. Actually you should be reported by asking this lame question.

Everybody gets judged in one way or another whether they like it or not. Those who know you would tend to judge you on your personality and values rather than by what you wear. But to someone on the street who doesn't know you,all they have to go on is your appearence. If I saw someone on the street dressed as you described,I would tend to think that they were weird...sorry

I don't think you're weird at all. I wear black nail polish and lots of black, but not every day. Just be yourself and have fun.

I resent labels. I know everyone says that, but I really do.

I'm hispanic, but dress like "an emo kid", and sometimes "a prep". and I act like a "nerd", because I'm smarter than a whole lot of people.

So long as you keep doing whatever it is you feel like doing, and you're happy, it doesn't matter.
