Actually, they did not re-write the Bible, but they do say concerning it, that it is the Word of God provided that it is interpreted correctly. That interpretation is left up to their President/Prophet. They do have the Book of Mormon. Unfortunately, they seem to hold it in higher esteem than the Bible. Whereas the Bible in many cases has had its claims verified by archaeology, the Book of Mormon has no valid outside proof that any of it ever happened. If you research the founder of Joseph Smith, you will find that he was into money digging and fortune telling. He had very few from his own town of Palmyra that could say a good word about him or his family. Some say that his supposed visitations from angels and John the Baptist were just drug trips. No matter what was leading him, it was all a lie. When comparing the Book of Mormon to the Bible, there is no comparison, stick to the true Word of God...the Bible.

All christian religions are interpretations of a text that are interpretations of a teaching. If you read the bible carefully and keep in mind that you are reading a translation of the original text, which is an interpretation of an original teaching, you will find there are many ways to think of it. Also, the "bible" as it is today was actually assembled from various documents by monks in what I believe was the 500s, but don't quote me on the date. In that sense, the bible has been rewritten and reinterpreted many times.

Joseph Smith is the one that added more books to the Bible. They call it another testament of Jesus Christ. He was a very confused man by all I have read of his history and has changed his mind no telling how many times on his beliefs. Like poligamy for instance. First he said God told him that it was what he wanted them to do. Later when they were gettin in so much trouble over it they took that out of their doctrine in some churches. Not all.He was definetley not a true man of God by any stretch of the imagination.

They never rewrote the bible. The book of Mormon is supposed to be a follow up to the bible, written from gold plates by Josheph Smith.

they didnt re-write the bible.
they compiled escriptures from american profets of old.
they even wrote a third book with profecies of these days.
if God talked to people before, He surely does now too.
as long as mankind is, God will keep talking, and more scriptures will always be in the making.
why the truth can only be about old things?
open your eyes and seek the truth of today.
by the way....
why do you ask others about someone when you can ask Him whatever you wanna know?
you have questions about mormons?, ask the mormons.
search the internet....
what do you know.... internet could be a great tool besides getting to know people from around the globe.

Their rewriting of the Bible (along with the Catholic Douay Version) isn't right. Most ppl would simply rather be told what to believe than to search for truth-as-it-really-is for themselves. I liken it to spoonfed Christianity. The origional scriptures have been proven to be the only origional documents of the Bible. This would also exclude the Egyptian-born gnostic gospels as well. Please watch the two minute video samples of some excellent research being presented on this very issue. Here's the website:

Why not write their own? The "original" was written over a period of at least 200 years, by many hands and has been rewritten, amended, redacted, translated and so forth again and again since then and tailored to different agendas.

We use the Kings James version of the Bible. We didn't rewrite it. What war are you taling about? We don't support war, our church doesn't take a stance on it at all.

The Holy Bible, should be the #1. No other books are to be used in comparison to the Bible. We are not to change the words or messages in the Holy Bible.
