One armpit pobably does have a fungal infection, the best thing to do is put lotrimin cream on it (athletes foot cream). Twice a day for maybe 10 days. If it doesn't get better, then talk to your doc.

Bacteria causes the odor -- maybe you have more motivated bacteria in one pit than the other.
Try lavender oil -- a few drops straight (patch test, because the armpit is *not* a place you want an allergic reaction). Oh, and to make sure you don't cross-infect the other one, wash the non-smelly one first, and leave the smelly one for later.

Although bacteria, as you state, does cause the problem, look at this logically. Remember, you can place two pieces of bread on a petry (I'm not sure how to spell it--sorry) dish on the same day. Although you used the same conditions, the production from those conditions will vary slightly no matter what.

you can try antibacterial soap. You could shave the hair. Try not to use any deodorant for a while until the cause of the smell clears up. You could use rubbing alcohol. Soulds like your pours need to be clean very well. Ivory soap, or Dial.

If you're right handed, your right pit doesn't get as good as a wash. Probably less deodorant too.
