I have a Derringer .357 mag and when I shoot it only the lower shell discharges. I can't find anything online about how to operate it and the gun shop owners down here in good ol texas are idiots ( more so than I for not knowing how to operate it). It's a bit beat up from previous owners but very clean aside from not doing what I want it to do works great. The only info I can find on the web says that every derringer or most at least, are over/under barrell style with selectable chambers to fire... BUT HOW!!!! Theres a good thanks out there for anyone who can help me shoot this "noisy cricket" with optimum efficiency and satisafaction .

most of the "derringer" style handguns had a manually operated selector on the hammer
it is what you will perceive to be the firing pin that strikes the primer
see if the pin can be moved manually with your finger
after a shot is fired on the lower chamber the firing pn part of the hammer should be able to be moved to the up position and fire the top chamber

The fireing pin has to be replaced contact the gun maker or take it to a gun smith

Very accurate answer by Brian...
The firing pin should do all the work it's self...send it to a gunsmith.
