Yes.
For a long time, I had the guilt thing, thinking I deserved it.
But no.
As I grew out of the pain, I saw I didn't deserve what happened.
Took a long time to forgive, but I'm still having trouble forgetting.
I think it's because I know I can't be hurt that bad again and not stay out of prison.

I believe in karma. Something you did in a previous lifetime can have an effect in this one. By the way my life has been going, I figured I must have been pretty darn bad. Be happy about the good stuff and bear up under the bad stuff and things should all work out sooner or later.

I have come to the conclusion that the judgements of bad or good are very subjective. I try not to classify things that happen in my life as bad or good. I look at the situation that I happen to be in and ask myself what I am going to learn and take away from it. If you do that, even those things that seem terrible and horrible kind of lose their power to make you miserable.
PS. don't assume that I must not have been through many bad or good things. I have been through many things that most people hope would never happen to them. That is how and why I have developed this coping strategy

Bad reputation. I finally figured out that a lot of what people say just comes out of their vivid imagination. When I decided only to care about the views of people who think positive, love life and like being kind, I found that, even though I'm not perfect, everything they say about me is good, too!

"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe." - Marcus Cole, Babylon 5

Sure, all the bad stuff. My wedding was ruined, my sister died of cancer at 23, I almost died having my son and never had any more children, I've lost 5 friends to cancer, I've been hospitalized for diabetes related infections...on and on. You just learn to roll with the punches.

I'm alive. A wonderful woman fell in love with me. She married me. She and I gave life to a beautiful girl. THEN I realized that Jesus died for my sins. (I actually deserve NONE of these wonderful happenings.)
