Mono is caused by the Epstien-Barr, which is a type of herpes virus. From what I remember when I had it, once you have caught the Epstien-Barr virus, it is always with you, it just goes dormant. It is entirely possible to have relapses of mono. I have not had a relapse that I know of, however one of my good friends has had a few relapses.

What most folks don't realize is that mono is caused by the Epstein Barr Virus and this is found in 95% of the worlds population.....
Mono that is re-occuring could be a sign it has become "chronic".
There is no cure for mono whether it is one case or re-occurring.
The side effects are greatly reduced in some who do not eat meat or very little meat. (there are other sources of protein).
Others claim juices, flushing, urine therapy and other "concoctions" cure them. (viral infections are much smarter than that!)
I would find a diet that seems to lesson the side effects.

Blood tests showed that my son has mono for the 2nd time. We were not aware when he had the first time. The EBV level was extremely high. A friend had mono off and on for over a year.

It is only suppose to come once. I suspect if you get it again it is a different strain or something that seems the same. Maybe the first time didn't make you immune to it. See you doctor.
