Never if I have a hard hand (meaning my hand has no ace). If I have a soft hand (meaning my hand has an ace), I may double. Here's the strategy that I use: http://www.theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/rules/blackjack.htm
Best of luck!
Robert

Mike, don't ever do it. Your best bet is to memorize basic strategy and NEVER deviate from it. Sometimes, you may feel that you're making a dumb move, but basic strategy has been mathematically proven, so you can't argue it.
Don't split 10s, always split Aces and 8s, only double on 9, 10 and 11, etc. My advice is to google "basic strategy". The first site that pops up is the one I use (NO, ITS NOT my website). You can adjust the parameters (# of decks, dealer hits or stands on soft 17) so you can tailor it to your needs.
Remember to adhere to it always. You can lower house advantage to something like .1%. Also, don't change your behaviors just because you hit a losing streak. In the long run, basic strategy will provide you with the highest returns.

If the dealer has a bust card and I have over 11, I sit tight and hope for the best.
