Anyone who says that you dont need medication obviously doesnt have ADD. It is nothing to do with your diet or exercise, I have tried literally everything under the sun to treat mine, everything you can think of. Some people mainly Scientologists have it out for all types of psychiatric medicine even though they saved my life. The truth is, I have ADHD so I take Concerta. The best choice for you is to see your doctor about it.
Oh and my condition improved very slightly with a good diet and exercise, but definitely not enough.

Traditional psychostimulant meds for ADHD (Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderral) are great at reducing hyperactive symptoms, but have not been found effective at treating the inattention symptoms. Strattera is a newer drug that was designed to specifically target inattention symptoms, and so that's probably your best bet if you want to go the meds route. Not sure whether or not you can drink on it.
In addition to medication, there is growing support that biofeedback can help with inattention, as you can "teach" your brain to form brainwave patterns to help you concentrate better. And the benefit of biofeedback is that its effects are long-lasting (unlike meds, which only work when you are on them).

The meds you would take depend on you and what works for your brain chemistry.
I highly recommend you search out natural remedies before you go on meds. There have been many problems with ADD mediations. The book; "The ADD Book" by Sears and Thompson is excellent. Comprehensive with information on diet, behavior modification, etc. Also, check out Native Remedies for ADD natural tonic.
For added concentration, many ADDers find coffee helps. As far a drinking, always best to never mix alcohol with medication, expecially psychotropic meds.

There is no good medication for ADD. They only cause problems in the long run, like depression and suicide. Try switching to an all natural diet. With the advent of methods of processing, ways of transporting food long distances, chemical fertilizers, and the predominance of convenience foods, our food lost a lot of its nutritional value. It became contaminated with substances that our bodies couldn't cope with. The nutrients needed to digest the foods weren't present and had to be robbed from our bodies' stores. The result was a massive decline in health.
All you have to do is eat "real" food! This means, no McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, etc. It also means NO processed meats, cheeses, etc. (bacon, bologna, salami, hot dogs, american cheese, cheez whiz, velveeta; anything that you prepare from a box. NO white flour, NO white sugar, NO white rice, NO fried foods, NO chips, donuts, soda, etc. Stay away from anything with artifical flavors, colors and preservatives.
Say YES to fruit, vegetables, salads, olive oil, eggs, nuts, seeds, beans, legumes, whole grains, yogurt, fish, chicken. For more info go here: http://www.mercola.com/nutritionplan/beginner.htm
Read "Our Toxic World" by Doris Rapp. Good Luck!

Have you considered changing your diet? Eliminating processed food and eating only real food can vastly improve your symptoms. The chemicals in processed food are really bad for you and affect you brain.
