Everyone is different an age range is between 10-14..
There are usually signs leading up to starting... A waist appears where before it was move of a straight shot from under arms to hips there will now be a slight curve... breasts may begin developing... etc... All are signs that hormones are kicking in which will lead to menstration...
If a girl hasn't started her period by about 14 a quick trip to the dr. for some tests to assure both the girl and her parents she is just a late bloomer may be appropriate to settle thier minds... and elliminate problems that could be causing not menstration...
I started my period in 7th grade I was 13 (9 days before my 14th birthday) ... My younger sister started hers in 4th grade she was 10, my older sister started hers in 6th grade she was 12... My oldest daughter started hers in 6th grade she was 12... My youngest daughter hasn't started hers yet although she is starting to show signs like the appearance of a waist and her breasts are getting tender etc. so it sholdn't be much longer she is 9 in 4th grade... My older sisters daughter started hers in 6th grade she was 12....
All of use are related by blood yet we all started at different times within the 10-14 range if that doesnt tell you each person is different I don't know what will.
There are some other factors that can delay the onset of menstration such as poor nutricien, anerexia, or bulemia... These factors can also cause menstration to cease after it has began ...

There is no "normal" My cousin was nine, I was 10 my daughter was almost 11, my sister was 17. My eldest step sister was 13 youngest stepsister was SUPPOSED to have gotten her's at 15 but she opted to get pregnant the first time around. (just a joke, she got pregnant after her first ovulation so didn't start her periods until she was 16 because of the pregnancy)

It depends on your body and when it's ready to accept it. Girls can start as young as 9 and as old as 16. I had a cousin that at the age of 8. Mines was 13.

It really does vary .Normally you start about the same age as your mom did , But I started early , I was 8 , but my sister started when she was 17, so go figure. Our mom started when she was 9. If you haven't started by 17 or 18 I would see the Doctor for sure .

There is no nomal age to start your period. My cousin started at 18 while another one of my cousins started at 9. And imange if that was within the family what could be happening outside of the family. Although about 2 years before it stars your breast may start to grow. I started at 13.
