Is it really necessary. When the door is locked they know what you are doing, so is that flush really necessary?

YES! Just because the door is shut, does not mean the others can't smell it! Believe me on that one! (One place I worked, the men's room was on the 2nd floor, and we could smell 1 guy when he was in there...and we were on the 1st floor!)

To those asking: Courtesy or Mercy flush = flushing as soon as the product hits the water, or as soon after as possible, to cut down on noxious odor.

I even have been in public restrooms with weird and wonderful notes. go away one that states they could desire to flush for the period of a drop to shop the noses of the workers. (cause them to snort yet get the factor throughout the time of.). The final one I observed asked that lavatory paper be put in the rest room and flushed. Make an illustration in ambitious letters and carry it up. human beings will examine and snort yet get the hint. Oh, definite, I do.

I gave a courtesy flush once. The toilet started to overflow and I had to leave. Water went everywhere.

It's not necessary, it's a courtesy. If you think it will really make those nearby more comfortable (let your nose be the guide), do it. Otherwise it's just a waste of water.

Nope, doesn't matter, you still smell it anyway. Some people even flush while they let a fart out while on the toilet. Man, just let it out! Everyone is in the bathroom for the same reason!
