First, I must tell you a little story.

Recently some of those nuisance "church people" came to my door. I had told them several times before that I wasn't interested; my exact words were "No thanks, I'm a secular type of person." Anyway, they told me that's okay, they "accept sinners too." What the f*ck?!? I've already made it clear the last time they visited that I loathe religion! So now they come back, implying that I'm a horrible sinner and can be "washed from sin." Pfft.

Now, this is where homosexuality comes in. The purpose of visiting me, "the big bad atheist," was to change me. To violate my beliefs and tell me to worship their God. If gays are, in their oh-so humble opinion, sinners, then the only purpose of inviting them to church is to change them. They basically wish to brainwash homosexuals and tear apart what could potentially be a loving relationship.

So I ask you, is this right? Are they carrying out God's will or being homewrecking bastards?

Edit: Okay, I tried to be polite, but now you guys are starting to seriously irritate me. Could I get an answer from someone who ISN'T making love their bible? Could the religious folks, for one minute, actually consider that homosexuals have feelings too? Gay people can have a loving relationship too, you know...

probably a little bit of both. their god obviously wants them to convert as many people as possible. doesnt sound like a god id want to worship. and yes, they think homosexuality is wrong, so they wouldnt find it wrong at all to split up gay couples, even though if they tried to split up straight couples, everyone would get upset.

its an age-old issue and as long as there is christianity, there will be a continuing struggle for gay rights.

as for those people who come to your door... you have tried the polite approach. when they come again, and you find out who they are, just close the door on them. not hard, just firmly. eventually, they will get the message.

Homosexuality is an abomination. If you consider two homos living together a home, I feel sorry for you. Your hatred of Christianity, or of those trying to be Christians is much worse than them inviting someone to church. You may think that you are secular. What you are is lost. Without the influence of Christ in this world, people would live like animals. They'd have sex in the street with goats and monkeys. That which you hate is that which is the reason YOU ARE ALIVE! As for homosexuality coming into what you were talking about, YOU are the one that brought it into it in the first place.

If you really don't want missionaries or "church people" ringing your doorbell, then put up a sign to that effect. I have seen them in my hometown.

"No Solicitors", "No Trespassers", "No Church Groups", etc. you get the idea.

They honestly feel you are missing out on knowing God, and want to share what they know of God with you. That is why they keep coming back. Somehow, you haven't gotten through to them that they should not come back and try again. Try being polite, but blunt. "I'm going to save you some time. I'm an atheist, and not interested in the religion you are trying to sell me. Please go away and don't come back. Put me on your do not visit list!" Something like that may help.

Personally, I feel it is rude to continuously pester somebody when they have told you "I'm not interested". It's like getting those annoying sales calls during dinner. Just hang up, or close the door.

The problem with their approach is they come off as better then you.
They don't understand who they are before a Holy, perfect God.
They don't understand what God's law demands.
God's law demands holiness and perfection.
Perfection is being not, here and there, doing the right thing. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
We are sinners from conception to death.
We all need the saving grace of Jesus Christ and him crucified.
Thanks be to God he has done the saving. We are receivers of his gracious gift of eternal life in paradise.
As far as these folks who visit you in outward self-righteousness, forgive them because they don't know what they are doing.

Brother, for a start , I'm a christian...and I hope you don't mind my commenting ? I think they were impressing on you that God LOVES you and INVITES you to change...so their reason is ok...BUT I DISAGREE in that they seemed to be too persistent for this reason : In Revelation 3 : 20...Jesus says , I stand at the door and knock , if any man hears my voice, I will come in and sup with you...so the key idea in here is ,we christians should appeal/INVITE but NOT to FORCE/PERSISTENT our understanding of the bible onto anyone else...I hope you understand , and May God Bless you

This isn't right to 'brainwash' you, no. The Catholic Church teaches that homosexuality isn't sinful, only homosexual actions are sinful. According to Christian theology, "for all have sinned, and fell short of the glory of God", so they're not picking homosexuals out as sinners.

Homosexuals can having long lasting relationships you are right.
Romans chapter 1 states about homosexual relationships, you should read it. That's how std's got started.

GOD(no matter if you believe it or not) loves you very much.
I agree those people should leave you alone though, it's not helping you by doing what they are doing. Chrisitians like that irritate me.

You need to consider having a personal relationship with Christ. Imagine if you're wrong about eternity what will you give in account for your soul. Honestly, the truth is you're selling yourself very cheap. God only loves you and wants to be a major part of your life. why not let Him in.

You, being an atheists, won't care about this.....but in 1st Corinthians the bible speaks of Homosexuality as sin. There are several other passages, but that one is my favorite. Check the N.I.V. version

No, they are NOT carrying out god's will! If they were, they would never knock on anyone's door. They are just brainwashed puppets without a thought of their own. Next time they come a knockin', answer the door in your birthday suit. This should end their intrusions. If not, get a restraining order at your local p.d.
