He's not a little boy in fact, he's in middle school, but he still throws tantrums that are loud and disruptive, I'm trying to do schoolwork and he starts screaming and banging on the walls, including yelling through the wallls. It's giving me a huge headache and I'm losing concentration. Any way to possibly muffle the sound?

Tie a pillow over his head then lock him in the basement.

What a brat! Treat him like the dog whisperer would; don't make eye contact with him, don't touch him, and don't communicate with him until he is in a calm receptive state. Eventually he'll wear himself out, but if you give him attention for it, he'll keep on with it.
On the other hand, you could try sitting in his room and screaming while he's trying to play a game or something and see how he likes it, but chances are, that'd fan the flames and he'd persist.
Ignore this little as*hole.

Pay him back the same way. Next time he starts with his nonsense, throw yourself on the floor, screaming and kicking like mad. Perhaps he'll get such a scare that he'll never do something like that again!
