It will only get worse. She needs counseling. And soon. I dated a guy like this... he made up stuff all the time, and not just lies to cover up things, but lies to hear himself talk. Get her to a counselor soon.

I am going through the same experience with my two boys. When they get into trouble and try to lie there way out of it the consequences are greater first for getting into the trouble they did and second for lieing about. Theya re both in counseling and this seems to be helping. Having double penalties seems to eliminate the lieing. Good luck.

Make sure you are always honest with her and emphasize the importance of being honest. Maybe you could try rewarding her when she tells the truth? (and give her tons of praise when she is truthful, too)
Make sure she has consequences when she lies, too. For instance, if she likes being on the computer, maybe you could take that away for a week? Good luck; 13 is a difficult age!

Punish her and punish her again... I guarantee she will learn that lying isn't the answer. She obviously knows that you are lenient enough to the point that she is able to continue to use the computer. Take her privileges away from her and she will think twice before she decides to lie again. Please... BE CONSISTENT!!!

She seriously needs help.
I am not trying to be mean. She is suffering from some sort of inner trauma.
Take her to a counselor or psychiatrist.
