Heat relaxes the muscles and helps with pain. Ice is more for swelling.

I am thinking cold / ice makes things contract so the neck muscle would kink more &
that heat makes things expand and might relax the kink.
Course it really depends on what you actually did to it.
If it is starting to swell , then use the ice.

Heat Heat Heat!!! heat will relax your muscles i recomend a HOTshower as hot as you can take it, ice will make things worse much worse it will tighten up your muscles in your neck and constrict the kink making it hard to move your neck. usually you can heat it up and just move it around and get used to the pain. So Heat it up and keep it moving!
