You don't have to soak them at all.
Separate the seeds from pumpkin flesh and strings. Wash them well and spread them on paper towels to dry. Next spread seeds evenly over a cookie sheet. Heat them in a 375-degree oven for 20-30 minutes. raise the oven temperature to 400. Brown the seeds for five to 10 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle with salt and serve hot or cold.

I don't think you have to soak them just wash them well and get all the pumpkin gunk off of them. I always let them dry for a few hours before roasting.

Don't soak them, and for goodness sakes, DON'T rinse or wash them off!! Why would you want to wash off the pumpkin flavor?
Just separate them from all the stringy fibers, spread them onto a shallow pan or sheet, sprinkle with salt and roast them, stirring occasionally.
No need to add any oil, butter, or anything like that.

I never "soak" them just wash them and pat dry with a paper towel not too dry if you are going to salt them so the salt sticks to them and then roast them. Spread out on a cookie sheet .
