According to the Bible in 1 Corinthians chapter 15:46, there was no spirit or spiritual being prior to the existence of the physical being, so there is not eternal existence of the soul, rather it is created at the time of the physical being's creation.

nice question
and although i am not a Christian .. would like to offer my thoughts
i believe the spirit/soul was in heaven so to speak , before our birth
i also do wonder why christians believe that we are in the ground until judgement ... where does our spirit go in the meantime ?
i feel we come from the spirit world ( heaven ) and return there after death
life is just the in between xx
i know this isnt what you wanted .. but i thought another perspective may be nice

Pure energy, connected to everything else in this world. Energy is the only thing in this universe that can't be destroyed or created. Therefore, we were potential energy before life, all our energy becomes part of this world again. This doesn't mean there can't be heaven.

Thats a great ?bible teaches we were fearfully and wonderfully made,he knew us before he formed us,he knited us in our mothers womb,so I would gather we were with God.Why the hell did I have to come here then.Just to go back to heaven to be in his presence again.Honestly I cant wait to get back up there.
