I recently put a collar on my cat, and she hasn't worn one in a couple years. I guess it started to irritate her because she's been scratching at it since I put it on her. Now there's these bumps all around her neck and behind her ears. I took the collar off but she was still irritated (because those bumps wouldn't heal)
what can I put on them to help it heal up quick?

Sounds like your cat has miliary dermatitis. It is a condition of small scabs around the head and neck sometimes even the whole body. It is an allergic reaction. 90% of miliary dermatitis is caused by flea allergy. The rest can be contact allergy (like a collar), pollen allergy or atopy, or food allergy. My best suggestion is to bathe your cat in case it is a contact allergy from the collar. While you are bathing her you will see if she has fleas. So my question to you is -- Was it a flea collar you put on your cat in the first place? If so, call your vet and get something safe and effective for fleas. You might want to make an appointment with your vet and get her miliary dermatitis treated as well. The allergic reaction can persist for 3 weeks or more even after the fleas are gone!!

Cat Rash On Neck

Put some hydrocortisone cream on her neck - the same kind people use - like cortaid, etc. Put a light layer of it on. If she keeps scratching you might have to trim the claws too, and file them a bit so they don't have rough edges ( which would do as much damage). If there are areas that are raw, put a dab of neosporin on them too. Don't give her a bath! If a cat isn't used to baths they can be traumatic, and especially if your cat has allergies - their skin isn't used to being wetted and shampooed. She'll just end up worse.

It could take a couple of weeks for the "bumps" to heal. Also check to see if it is a possibility that your cat may have fleas. Your kitty may have picked them up around the same time you put the collar on. Ohhh dont waste your time on flea collars...they DONT work. If your kitty does have fleas call your vet and see about getting a product such as "frontline'"

The longer you wait the worse it will get. It is expensive to go to a vet but if you don't seek help you may lose her. It doesn't sound like fleas, it sounds more like a cyst of some sort. She may need an operation or just medication. For her sake PLEASE take her to someone. Phone the RSPCA and tell them your delima they may be able to help but I don't know for sure.

You might try just plain neosporin. That is what my vet told me to put on my cat when he had a rash that he scratched so much it bled and it worked really well.

Wash her. Maybe she has some skin problems. Remember to wash her with shampoo and rinse clearly. Brush her often, and hopefull the irriation will dissapear. Plan b will be go see a vet, this could be serious.
