It is very unfair. Water is the building block of life. I can see their concerns if a student might sneak Vodka in or something, but it is up to our teachers and parents to notice any strange behavior. Otherwise, water should be allowed. This keeps students from excessive trips to the water fountain, which could result in bathroom trip, visit with friends, check locker, etc. If students had water, it would keep them from having to leave the classroom and having the opportunity to be distracted. Besides, if a lesson is important, leaving the classroom should be avoided. Some students could have conditions like dry mouth, or dehydration. And its a proven fact dehydration is a source of fatigue and "foggy brain" feeling.

I agree with you. I think water should be encouraged in the classes. I think schools are afraid that the bottles can be used as missles and the water used to pour on someones head or spilled on the floors and someone will slip. Everyone is sue happy nowsdays and schools are trying to proactive in protecting their students.
Water is essential. I think that is why so many students are getting heavy. Water flushes the toxins and fat out of the body and rehydrates it. The more water we drink the healthier we are.

I suggest you get with your student council and maybe get a petition going. Or rally your parents to your aid. Parents do have some say and can get rules changed if they group together. Bring it up at a PTA meeting or booster club. Your school may just change to allow only water in class.

Good Luck

This is becoming a world of sissy's Yeah I grew up at the right time, no helmet needed for bike riding, no getting a ride everywhere and no need to carry more then your books to class. I never thought I would never be able to drink water ...again to the point that I needed a bottle with me at all times. We need to put schooling back into schools. No cell phone, MP3 or Ipods or anything that makes a book bag even heavier then it needs to be. Book bags in my day were for nerds, now no kid goes with out one. I believe your schools and schools in general have to stop the distraction in the classroom in order for the children to learn. I graduated in 1980 and we had social/racial issues as well. The more you allow kids their "so called rights" the more they'll take advantage. I'm on the side that your not a adult yet , these are the rules and if they aren't in your favor then your going to have to put up with them. Rules start us on the right road to adulthood, put yourself in an educators place if Johnny wants a bottle of water then Tommy can have a bottle of soda and Jimmy needs a bottle of apple juice. If thats not enough just imagine if that really isn't water or a soft drink in that bottle, it might be a chemical someone is going to toss at someone...We always ask "Why I cant do this or that" but when we don't get the right answers its because my rights are being violated. I'm sorry for the long drawn out answer but the head lines in the news should be enough to convince you that rules are for your saftey as well as everyone around you. I hope you can take a few seconds out of your day to thank a teacher for their efforts in your education, they were student alot longer then you....Good Luck...

This is a very bad choice by your high school. Water allows the brain to work more productively and keeps a students body hydrated especially if its after a break or lunch and the student hasn't had time to get a drink

For well over 200 years, American school children survived very well without taking water into the classroom. They even learned more than students do now.
You really want an opinion? In my opinion, you are nothing but a whiner, a spoiled snot-nosed brat, and a wimp.

There's nothing unhealthy about not having a drink of water for the time a class lasts. The constant sipping can be very distracting to the instructor and other students. Plus, there's also the mess from spills and potential damage of textbooks or electronic equipment. It really isn't something for you to get "very angry" over. Try not to make a big deal out of everything not going your way.

i don't think so. when i was in school, we were allowed nothing in the classroom (this was public school). we just drank out of the water fountains between classes and we all turned out okay.

it would have been nice to have stuff in the classroom, but i don't think it's unhealthy.

I always had to wait till the bell rang ending the class, unless I faked an illness, like telling the teacher that I was about to throw up.

personaly, i don't think it's unhealthy unless they don't let you go to the drinking fountains during class. that's wat they are there for. water bottles can be a distraction and if you spill it say buh bye to all your work!!!! if you never get a chance to go to the water fountains, though, it is unhealthy and you should consider taking it up with your school's student council.
