She does this periodically. She will bite if we get close to her and also screetch very loudly. It will last for a few days at the most. It's like she's in pain but there's no injury.

maybe she is hurt..... chihuahua's a very fragile dogs. I'd take her to the vet and if she checks out physically, it may be behavioral issues and you'll need to get her into some structured training classes to get her socialized. Also, stop carrying her around or letting her sit on the furniture. Treat her more like a dog so she knows her place in your pack.
