OK, so you're in Cali?, high cost of living and all to be considered.
NO less than 20%, unless it was sub-standard service.
Then 15% would be OK.
If you don't want to tip appropriately, then go grocery shopping and cook for yourself AND clean up your own damn mess.,

it extremely is not any longer racist and that i think it has lots to do with training and decency. i visit declare that once a black guy or woman does tip me properly i think like a jerk however the standard public of the time they tip little or no or not at all. And once you're working around like an animal for say, a $3 hundred bill and get $10 tip it extremely is totally frightening. once I pay attention somebody talk undesirable English I usually assume a bad tip and that's for any race. Racism could be argued if this became an ignorant assertion despite the fact that it extremely is not any longer, that's an remark and definitely, it comes right down to type. to those that say, "be happy to get a tip", servers gets a commission below common minimum salary using fact of suggestions, for occasion in long island they gets a commission $5.00 an hour. So, in case you could't comprehend which you pay for good service than do no longer difficulty coming to a eating place and be attentive to which you're a classless guy or woman.

If the service was at least good, I'll tip 15%. If the service was GREAT (even if the food wasn't) 20% or more.
Most people blame the waiter or waitress if there are problems with the food, but they don't make it. They just serve it.
Now, if the food is incorrect or something is wrong (too cold, hair in it, etc), then I will ask to see the manager or chef. But I NEVER punish the waitstaff for the kitchens' mistakes.
And people, minimum wage for waitstaff is significantly LESS than standard minimum wage. They are expected to earn at least an 8% tip, so they are taxed on that basis weather you leave it or not......so, tip generously for great service!!!

Good service is at least 20%. And if you don't have this money to tip appropriately, then you shouldn't be going out to eat at all. It's hard working as a waitress and if your waiter is nice and does his/her job then I feel that 20% should be the minimum.
A columnist in my local paper wrote an article about this topic, i wish i could remember what all he had to say....
It was something about tipping because they are providing a service to you, just as you tip your hairdresser or a taxi driver...
OK, maybe i don't remember the article, but i do remember what i took for it and that's to tip at least 20% and to never NOT tip. If you receive BAD service you can tip 10%, but it is very rude not to tip because sometimes it's not the waiter's fault that he/she was slow or your order wasn't correct.
Happy Dining!

15-30% for great service, 5-10% for service, and 0% for bare minimun service.
If I get crappy service at a busy restaraunt, then I will leave a tip because they are working hard... But other than that..
For bad service, I'll write down a big fat ZERO on the credit card bill, or leave a penny if I'm paying in cash, and never go back to that crappy resturaunt. Why the hell do some of you people reward bad service with 10% tips??
Yeah yeah, and I've heard it before, most of their income comes from the tips, well, then they should serve better, OR, if they are really that unhappy with their work, work some place else!
Lot's of people make minimum wage at jobs where tips are not expected, and no one cares that they don't get tips to help them survive.

15-20% unless the service is poor, then less but I usually write a note on the receipt as to why the tip is low or high. All bets are off if the waitress is really good looking and nice!

Before 4 pm if it is great service then I leave about 18 %. After 4 pm 18 % to 25 %. Unless there were special circumstances, such as a special birthday or we were really loud or especially picky. Then it could be more.
I used to wait tables, if the service is poor I complain and leave a poor or no tip.

The NEW standard is 15%. Servers barely make minimum wage, and most customers are extremely rude and treat servers like they are lesser beings. As a Server myself I always tip 20%, unless something truly mindboggling awful happens. For excellent service I naturally tip more, and especially if my son makes a mess or some of my friends are rude...

At most places, I tip 15%. At restaurants I eat at a lot where I usually get the same server every time, I tip at least 20%.
