It isn't that different than any other church. They will dress and not wear jeans and tennis shoes.
If you do feel pressured, just be up front and say so. People will be friendly, but not wish to come on too strong.
Most wards have a Gospel Principles class during Sunday school. This is specifically for investigators and new members. This is the best place to ask questions.

Mari:
I am LDS and this is about what you can expect:
The first meeting is the Sacrament Service. There will be song and prayer and the opportunity to partake of the sacrament. This will be followed by a couple of speakers. Since there is no paid minister in the LDS church, the speakers are regular members. There will be a closing song and prayer. If you attend on the first sunday of the month, it is a day of fasting and testimony. The only difference is that it is kind of open microphone day for anyone to come and share their testimony and spiritual experiences.
Next we have Sunday school. We are studying the Old Testament this year. Most likely, the congregation near you is in Isaiah. There is a teacher who will explain and ask questions. It is a very open forum and don't worry if you lack knowledge of the Old Testament. We are all learning together.
The final meeting is split. The women attend Relief Society. Men attend Priesthood. On the 2nd and 3rd sundays, we study the same lessons. On the 1st and 4th sundays, we have lessons that could be geared towards the needs of the sisters or brothers in the group.
It is all very non-threatening. Depending on where you live, people may be very excited to see a new face. I am sure that you will have a nice experience. There are often missionaries in the church services. If anyone approaches you about learning more about the church, just be honest with them and they should respect that. If your husband doesn't want to attend church, missionaries, of course, visit families in their home as well.
Good luck. I pray that you find what you are seeking. If there is anything that I can do to help out or if you have any questions, let me know.

Things you should expect:
To be greeted with kindness, tell someone there you are a visitor, we are used to it and can help you get to the right class or to sacrament meeting.
There have been some good explanations of what happens at church as far as meetings. Your children (if you have any) can go to primary while you attend other classes,
If anyone does pressure you, which I don't know what you consider "pressure", just tell them you are just visiting. When they pass around the sacrament you don't need to take it since you are not a member. It is a renewal of baptismal covenants so wouldn't apply to you.
Also - to Ipexe - we are studying the bible this year just so you know. We rotate between the NT, OT, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants every year.
Please find out for yourself, no one can tell you what is true or not true but yourself and the Lord. Pray about it if you really want to know, if you are sincere, the Lord will answer your prayers.

it extremely is truthfully distinctive than different Christian church buildings. there is not any offering plate that is going around amassing money so no might desire to rigidity approximately looking grasping reason you forgot some replace. Sacrament assembly: on the 1st Sundays of each and every new month they might have a quickly & Testimony assembly. contributors of the church quickly for 2 consecutive food, usually breakfast and lunch on that Sunday. The greater religious ones do a 24hr quickly. They achieve this considering that's a manner of letting their religious guy overcoming the organic guy (starvation). After sacrament absolutely everyone might flow as much as the microphone and undergo their testimony for roughly 40 5 minutes. there is sacrament each and every Sunday different than for the time of stake and standard conferences. The youthful boys pass bread and water. that's a time of reverence and you think approximately what Jesus Christ has executed for you, a time to bear in mind him. for the time of alternative Sundays there are assigned audio gadget from contributors of the congregation, usually 2. they might get carry of assigned subjects or choose for upon theory. They talk on a topic count of the gospel and prepare it to their very own lives, telling the congregation what it has executed for them or what they have found out. Sunday college: the youngsters flow to universal. each and every lesson is the same in each and every stake international. all of them learn a similar textile mutually. that's fairly prepared. there's a Gospel concepts type for greater moderen contributors or investigators and yet another type for greater found out contributors. here they only have one type reason it extremely is any such small branch. relief Society/Priesthood: the adult males and females separate into the perfect assembly. i in my opinion enjoyed this way using fact we girls can communicate among one yet another without being butted in via a guy who's attentive to each thing. you would be welcomed. they're going to ask who you're and the missionaries will probable choose for to talk to you. yet don't be discouraged if somebody would not notice you particularly if that's a super ward, yet usually somebody will notice you're new. maximum bounce on the possibility to be a missionary and help convert somebody.

My in-laws are all Mormon. It depends if you go to Sacrament or all of the service (there is Sacrament, Sunday School, and another meeting that is with your similar group...i.e. Woman's group--- I can't remember the actual name of it). You shouldn't be pressured (though I went with my hubby to experience what he grew up with per his request, and we did get an offer immediately for home visits (we also live in UT and these people know my in-laws). The Sacrament is the main part. I would try attending that and Sunday school. They are very reverant and kind of stoic, which for me doesn't work because I am Lutheran. It is nice though and the people that attend LDS are generally very faithful.

Well, I would just attend Relief Society activities and come to church as often as you felt like it. There is a great sustaining influence just being surrounded by women, many of whom are in the same boat you are. God bless.

Go for it! The LDS church is so loving and wonderful. I am a convert to the faith and I cannot imagine my life without the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Just relax, enjoy and meet some new friends. :)

mari, it will completly depend on what your looking for. if you want to be spiritual with the bible, then go to a baptist church of some kind. if you want the bible and other things try the mormoon church. the mormons may feel more compfortable to you being just out of a bad situation because they have a very pretty outside. but since when did god say life would be "comfortable" i would expect singing, and teachings from the book of mormon. the many times i have attended the mormon church i have never used my bible. they do have great morals and have a close family practice, but as far as spiritual it will teach you false things.

Mormon services are much like other Protestant services. Praying, singing, speaking (most have several speakers, none of which are long-winded) and then they dismiss. Mormons are very community oriented and you can ask an elder for advice and instruction.
