First of all, it's not stealing music. There is no law against it to date and the only attempts to make it illegal have focused on the person sharing, not the person downloading. The recording and movie industries tried to get ISP's (Verizon, SBC, etc.) to give up the names of people who were sharing large amounts of music and movies but to no avail. Bottom line, download away and don't worry or feel guilty. There is no penalty for downloading at this time.

First of all the only reason why Limwire hasn't been stopped is because all the music isn't in one database. All of the music is from people like you and I who have limewire and share their music. Also when you first download limewire you DO agreee to not copy and resell any of the music you download. The punishment for this is usually a very large fine, but the fine also depends on how much stuff u download

particular, each and every physique has their distinctive theory of what the data are.. yet its authentic that persons have been caught for it. i actually dont think of you do get caught till you have downloaded like one thousand songs or greater.. however the component is, they might catch who ever they choose for, so there unlikely to waste their time and money with a guy or woman who has downloaded in keeping with possibility 200 songs. they're going to flow after the enormous downloaders, wherein case the effective could be interior the a hundred hundreds. merely dont make a super habit out of it.. save your nostril sparkling, and it may help to delete the records you have downloaded perfect afterwards and flow them to a distinctive pc.

As far as I've seen, only people who upload files to Limewire have been caught. They were caught because thier IP address is visible after a search is done. The penalty is usually a fine paid through a settlement. I don't know of any cases that went to trial.

Are you naive enough to believe that what you do online can't be seen by anyone else? If the government wants to, they can trace your online activity more easily than they can tap your phone.

Those of you who say it's not illegal need to pull your heads out of the sand and do some reading on the topic (see links below). The recording industry calls it piracy whether you're uploading or downloading, and there are some very serious penalties. The RIAA is suing LimeWire for $150,000.00 PER SONG!

i was connected to a major filesharing site for a couple of years and been pirating for several more than that ... ive never seen a private user busted ... seen them get letters to cease and desist ... but never busted ... and ive known and talked to literally thousands of filesharers ... they generally go after sites and servers and the owners and also try to bust uploading "scene" groups ... not to say they would never bust a private user especially if ur using a university network to pirate from ...it could happen .. anything can happen but i doubt it ... they get you by ur ip when u connect to the file which they have on their machine usually.
