I think that if you combine a sensible walking program (like starting with 30 minutes a day and gradually increasing it) and combine it with a sensible diet that controls the carbs (potato chips, breads, etc.) that you can certainly lose the 13 pounds. I think daily exercise is the key though. Good luck!

Okay, do you want to lose 13 in a month, or keep it off once you lose it?

It is possible to lose 13 in a month. Stop eating and it will happen. Unfortunately, once you resume eating it will all come back. Worse yet, your body will adjust itself, as it will now believe that you occasionally have food shortages -- it will store food even quicker into a greater number of fat cells.

You've got this all wrong. A "diet" isn't something that you "do" until you're "done." It is a part of a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. You need to increase your activity level (exercise) and change the way you eat.

To lose 1 pound a week, you need to either burn 500 more calories a day (exercise) or decrease your calorie intake by 500 a day (don't eat the McD's fries), or a combination of both.

Weight Watcher is great to help you change your diet to something that you can live with (no starving allowed!). And, Iu'd go to the local YMCA for some exercise classes for the exercise part (cheap, and great people there).

It is possible !!!! I have tried all kinds of things in my life to lose weight but I just recently discovered a natural & healthy way that's even safe for people with diabetes. I implemented a anti-oxidant juice, a healthy energy drink, and a simple and great weight loss plan into my life. I feel better and have a ton of more energy than I have ever had. I have lost 2" in my waist and I have lost 20 pounds in only the last 26 days. What’s incredible is that I did not diet, eat special foods, skip meals, or even exercise. I just simply added this plan to my current daily life style

1200 calories a day diet. Low fat (no butter, whole milk or cheeses, only low fat yogurt). Low carbs (meaning fruits only and only minimum amount. If you eat a banana, you have had all your carbs for the day) No sugar.(including no fruit juices). No meat. No colas, not even diet.

Exercise. Get in one and half hours a day of moderate to strenuous aerobic exercise with some stretching and weights 2 to 3 times a week.

Water. Drink plenty of water. 12 - 15 glasses a day. In fact, drink nothing else except water and green tea for the month.

Follow this plan to the tee; you will lose the 13 pounds in one month.

Then to keep it off. Continue your exercise. You can up your carbs and fat intake a bit, and your calories up to 600 extra a day.

Good luck! (And I should practice what I preach)

Yes, I have lost 28 lbs in the last 2 months and done it in a healthy way, without starving.

I have been eating approximately 1600 calories per day (give or take) and doing cardio 6 days a week and strength training 3 days a week. It's been coming off at a rate of 3-4 lbs per week.

I have been tracking my calorie intake and calories burned on this wonderful free weight loss website at http://www.sparkpeople.com

Good luck!

I lost ten lbs my first week on weight watchers. Usually you will lose a signifigant amount at first but then it slows down to one to two lbs here and there. Just watch what you eat. I just got the weight watchers materials from people who werent using it anymore and did it myself. I didnt go to meetings because I couldnt afford to. Try to pay attention to what you eat, remember portion sizes and just make sure you dont starve yourself.

I lost 40. I've now gained back 10. It resulted from a hospital stay.

What did it though was high doses of laxatives and diuretics.

NOT RECOMMENDED EXCEPT UNDER DOCTOR SUPERVISION.

Essentially, more out the bottom than into the top.

Yes! If you want to lose it and keep it off you need to exercise to raise your metabolism. Decrease your carbs and sugars and eat a balanced diet to lose. Exercise to maintain.
