There are 3 different types of glucosamine available on the market for either dogs or people. Glucosamine sulfate, glucosamine HCL (hydrochloride), and n-acetyl glucosamine. The difference is minor and the first two will work very effectively if your dog is suffering from minor arthritis. Glucosamine is the purest form of glucosamine and therefore preferred by most whereas the glucosamine sulphate has some sulphur in it that may also be beneficial. The bottom line is it does not really matter which one you purchase as long as the quality is good (which can be a real problem in the dog/animal world)
A product that seems to work really well for my dog at least is CetylM www.cetylm.com . They have a crazy video to look at of a dog with arthritis, you need to see it!
I hope this will help!

.

I have used it for YEARS for my dogs. It sometimes comes along with Chondroitin. MSM..not MSN..is something different alltogether. It is another supplement. You can get MSM seperate also. It is not part of the glucosamine.

There are the sulfate and HCl kinds, but they tend to lump them together because they are both so similar and both seem to work the same. It does not matter which kind you use.

OH YES.... keep in mind that glucoomine hyddrochloride is not the type of medicine you use for arthritis in dogs... The Glucsomine Hydrochloride is used in medicine. It has important physiological functions to human body such as to take part in the detoxification of liver and kidney,to protect liver from inflammation, to stimulate the increase of Bifidobiogen in the infant intestines,to treat rheummatoid arthritis and gastric ulcer, to confrol the growth of cell. It is an important material for the synthesis of antibiotics and anticancer drugs ,and is widely used in food, feed additives and cosmetic.

Now.. the glucosamine that we use for dogs(I use it twice a day for my arthritic dog) is glucosomine wth MSN and I strongly recommend that for dogs.. not the other glucosamine you mentioned.
