There's a plus to adopting an "older" cat. They won't be as troublesome as a small young cat, although that can be fun with a kitten.
Keep in mind 7 is hardly old for a cat, since they can live well into their late teens. At 7 a cat can still play and act "kittenlike".
Most shelters LOVE it when older cats are adopted, unfortunately mostly just kittens are adopted and either the older cats stay at the shelter or even worse, are euthanized to make room for more animals.
Go for it, you will not regret it!

No! Seven is not too old! Kittens are usually the first ones to be adopted, so congrats that you want to give a loving home to an older cat. You will hopefully be saving money by not having to give as many vaccinations or neuter your cat. With an older cat, you can also know more about the personality of your cat. With a kitten, it's hard to tell how they will act when they are younger.
Of course, with an older animal, there will likely be other health needs it may have.
Indoor cats can lead long healthy lives, as others have mentioned. Good luck with the new addition to your family!

No, a seven year old cat isn't too old to adopt. Some cats live to be 20. Plus an older cat is less excited than a kitten and does less messes!! A kitten is fun but so are older cats! They can be quite affectionate!!

hell no! I adopted a 8 year old 3 years ago. best cat ever., he still get the crazy's and will be like that for anoother 5 years. I figured he'll live to 18 or 19 at least. that's 10 years! for some reason the majority of people think cats only live till their 12 or so, Senior food for cats is 7 years or over, well that make my cats Senior for 11 years.
some time these cats can wait years to get adopted cause of their age, if your thinking about doing it, I recommend

Of course not. You would be doing a good thing in two ways. First - older cats are less likely to be adopted, so you'd be likely saving its life. Second, a seven year old cat is only "middle aged" and is likely very well adapted and house-trained. Kittens can be a pain just like puppies.

Absolutely not, it is a good age, you can see his/her personality, she is probably alot calmer and more settled than a kitten. Generally if I have a choice I like to adopt the older cats. The last cat I adopted was 13-he is now 17. Cats have a lot of love to give, no matter what their age. Good Luck.

No not at all. if you a adopt an older cat that is really good. because most people want kittens. they dont want older cats. so the older cats have to live at shelters the rest of there lifes. And the older cat might be shy with you at first but when it gets used to you it will love you just like any other cat would.

How could it possibly be?! Older cats don't want to wait aroung at a humaine society for half their life. I think it would be great to adopt an older cat. Every always wants kittens, so where does that leave the other cats? I actually think kittens are harder. I adopted my cat when he was three but that's still an adult. I'd say go for it and good for you.

Nope. I had a brother and sister that I adopted and one lived 'til 18 and the other 'til 20. You have at least 7 to 9 good years left in the cat. Feed it good, high quality food, don't let it outside where it can pick-up parasites and get in to fights with animals that may be carrying nasty diseases and you should have a great friend for many years to come.
