well, it pretty much relates to this classic since you are Buddhist too:

May we be free from suffering & the source of suffering.
May we know happiness and the source of happiness.
May we know happiness devoid of suffering.
May we rest in equanimity, free from aversion & agression.

Very highbrow, but not very realistic. There are many real-life "prison" situations that, were you to find yourself in them, you'd have a hard time looking past them towards such a philosophical ideal.

It takes unfathomable strength for a human to accept imprisonment of any kind and not have their spirit broken. This is precisely why so few humans are capable of living life as this quote suggests.

The reality is, most people are prisoners of their fears, whether they know it or not, whether they admit it or not. All we can do is try our best to face and overcome our fears, which can take a lifetime of work.

If this quote helps you to do that, then by all means, endorse it.

Yes, but circumstances make it necessary to walk directly into your fear to have freedom from it.

There is a very similar one from Roosevelt.....I know I'll get this wrong , but those of you who know it can correct me. If you sacrifice freedom for security, you don't deserve either one.

That is a very interesting quote. It rings rather true. Do you like Camus?

so true.

it is only when we are afraid of nothing that we are truly free.

*shermynewstart* - that quote sounds a lot like one from Benjamin Franklin:

"Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."

Sounds very reasonable to me.

You got that right! And I am free, for I have relinquished my fears.
