There are several good medications on the market for acid reflux. Prilosec is probably the best over-the-counter medication. Prevacid is still prescription-only, but it is probably even better. In addition to medication, you might also try raising the head of your bed at night, or using a "wedge" pillow to raise your head; also, refrain from eating after about 6 p.m.

I'm a medical researcher. It is widely agreed among physicians and medical paraprofessionals, that initial diagnosis, mostly by using a typical acid reflux symptoms questionnaire, is necessary to ensure the most effective and quick treatment for this condition. Approx 70% of the acid reflux diagnostics that are based on the presence of typical symptoms are accurate. Since acid reflux, also called GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), can cause patients a great deal of discomfort and result in severe complications, it is highly important to know how to identify its symptoms in order to quickly diagnose and treat it.
If you know you have acid reflux you can try this natural program http://acidreflux.toptips.org

Fortunately there are many treatments available for acid reflux.
Antacids are usually the first port of call for many acid reflux sufferers. For short term and infrequent attacks of acid reflux, these provide much needed temporary relief. However, as a long term solution they are not suitable and alternatives should be sought.
Any sufferer of regular acid reflux should keep a diary of everything they eat and drink. Over time, patterns can be established and many people report elimination or reduction of acid reflux symptoms after changing their diet accordingly to eliminate problematic food or drink.
If dietary changes have little or no effect, there are various families of drugs that are available over the counter and on prescription.

Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here https://bitly.im/aMG5D
The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp.
heartburn the most common symptom of acid reflux disease (also known as gastroespohageal reflux disease, or GERD). Heartburn feels like a burning pain in the center of the chest. It is caused by acid from the stomach backing up into the esophagus. is a symptom of acid reflux disease (GERD) Also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

I had severe reflux all the time, for years. I finally went to a nutritionist and had them do a complete blood work up on me. She discovered that I should not be eating a lot of the foods that I had been. She changed my diet to work with my specific blood type. I had to cut red meat, milk, tomatoes, and other acid producing foods, etc out of my diet. It was only difficult for the first few weeks and then I got use to it. As long as I don't eat things I shouldn't I have no reflux and haven't for 3 years now. Another idea is to do a google search on Acid Reflux and Apple Cider Vinegar, this also worked for me. Good Luck!

I have had the scope thing and they said nothing wrong, but I still have what I call chronic acid reflux. The only thing that helps is 2 rolaids (peppermint) and occasionally for a few days at a time a prilosec or nexium to help prevent esophigal decay. ALso sleeping with head and chest elevated helps with morning and eveing onsets...for me.

I would suggest going to the doctor and asking about nexium! sp?
Also try to stay away from acidy foods, soda's and pretty much everything you like to eat or drink! It sucks, I know! I have found that if I'm in bed and it is bothering me that if I lay on my left side it helps. Hope this is useful!
