Describe what gives you pleasure (what you like) and what makes you unhappy (what you don't like).

'Decrivez ce qui t'a fait plasir, et ce qui t'a rendu peut-etre malheureux'
the EXACT translation, if you take in account that it is conjugated in the past (passé simple), is the following: ' Describe what has made you happy, and what may have made you unhappy'. Please keep in mind that 'Décrivez' is either a polite form for 'Describe' as if you were adressing an employer or employee, or it can also be second person plural i.e., adressing a group. Also, 'plaisir' can also mean satisfication, contentness or pleasure. But, since 'malheureux can only mean 'unhappy' than it is safe to conclude that 'plaisir', in this situation, means happiness.

Chevalier's translation is the best one.

JAS might have studied French for years, but she might also mislead you into thinking that "le passe compose" is equivalent to the present perfect. That's very not true, as there is no equivalent in French for the present perfect. You'll need to study carefully the use of tenses in French, it's quite difficult and can be quite confusing for learners, especially English-speaking ones.

In this case, they're apparently asking you to tell a story in the past, so simple past is totally appropriate. In such a story you'll have to use passe compose and maybe a bit of imparfait.

"ce qui t'a fait plaisir" could also be translated in "what made your day" (but made you happy is totally fine).
