A question on Muslim mens morals?

This was reported in to-days Courier Mail, Brisbane, Australia. A Muslim Cleric, Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali said, "Women who do not cover up are similar to abandoned "meat" making them responsible for sexual attacks".

The senior Islamic cleric has said. "If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab (islamic headdress), no problem would have occurred."

The Sheik went on to say women were "weapons" used by "Satan" to control men and when it comes to adultery the responsibility falls on the woman 90 per cent of the time.

Do you think he is right or do you think that Muslim men have to learn to control themselves?

This was said in response to the conviction & jailing of three young Muslim men who raped a young woman on her way home from work.

A rapist is a rapist in my mind, there is no fault in the victums part, only the savage that commited the act. All muslims aren't the same either, this court case you found isn't how Islam stands on women. The people who represent Islam in this area obviously don't know what the Quran means, what was said there goes against Muslim teachings, it is that clerics opinion alone and not of Islam.It is very sad to see some fool trying to spin a horrible crime on this matter. The girl commited no sin, only the men did, and the cleric who supported the men adds to that sin as well. Anyone who is muslim should know what is right and wrong, you know your not supposed to rape someone... ever. Who ever the muslim leaders are over there, they a far from intelligent. Most muslims are nothing like this, please don't generalise all muslims on the actions of these few. Every religion has there bad eggs so to speak, this one act is in no way how all muslims are. This is more of a regional condition, lack of leadership, and a use of religion against the ideals it originally stood for.

A Muslm cleric who blasphemise such evil and ignorant preaching will get his lesson from God. Anyway, if this cleric (so-called) called women to cover up, it is for their help and support. A Muslim women is and always should cover herself as it was revealed since God created manking. Not only Islam, but Judaism and Christianity as well. This cleric has a good point but he might of not meant in a way that the women was guilty but as a lesson he tried to bring up to show the Muslim Ummah that if they do not follow the words instructed by God they will get a horrible punishment by him in both this world and the next.

There as nothing wrong about his statement saying that the women in her hijab and how she would of been in her room then there would be no problem because of course, all women are victims of rape, regardless of faith.

However, his comment on how women are weapons used by Satan is totally wrong because it is the men who follow what their ego is and one who follows their ego end up in very hard situations which God totally condemned his people not to. If they know that women are being victims of rape, why do you have to show off the skin that you deserve to only watch not anyone else?
Outer beauty is nothing because it won't be a good enough excuse when you face God and also, outer beauty does not last long, you will become old one day and the only thing a woman must do if to show her inner beauty because that is what God looks for.

ages ago I spoke to someone that was a detective, and he was called to a muslim home because the neighbours had complained about noise etc. The woman had been bashed etc by her hubby and she was still telling the police to leave and that her hubby didn't mean it etc etc. I think these men are pigs no matter what you are wearing and the poor women (muslim) are frightened to death of their husbands. In their law if a woman leaves a husband the man will get custody of the children so most would just put up with the abuse to stay with the children.

I hope you realize that it's not just some Muslim clerics who believe this way. There are men and women, of all faiths, ages, and races, who believe that a woman can be blamed for her rape if she dresses in a certain way.

Of course I don't believe he is right, and I believe each individual is responsible for his or her own actions and choices.

Not all Muslims feel this way. One of my best friends is a man who was raised as a Muslim, and I know that he does not feel or think or act this way.

I think this comment is absolutely ridiculous. It's just an excuse to justify the disgusting actions of these men and any other men that sexually assault women. No matter how provocatively a woman might dress, she does not deserve to be assaulted by pathetic men who cannot control their urges.

This is not a Muslim problem but rather a shovanism problem. There are Muslims who do not think like this, and non Muslims who do think like this. The first step to ending hate is to understand when you yourself have a problem.
