Do what you feel led to. I'm hoping to go out with my church and knock on doors and hand out tracts, inviting people to church. There's nothing wrong with that. My church also does a harvest party for the younger kids, as an alternative to going out trick or treating. The focus is on God, and it's a good thing. Staying home's not wrong, and it's also good to pray for that night, that people will be kept safe, and that the atmosphere will not prevail.

I think those two solutions aren't right. They are both extreem.
I had a friend who hid with her kids in a walk in closet on Halloween and read bible stories. Wow a set up for rebellion.
When she heard my opinion on it, the next year her kids did Halloween without guilt.
There are things that become cultural. Halloween and even Christmas included. It is something our country does. There are people who turn Halloween in to a evil thing, but that isn't the norm. It is mostly a holiday where kids have fun and dress up.
I didn't let my kids dress as anything evil like witches or vampires or anything violent.
We always had great fun carving out pumpkins.
Also if you have a talk with your kids and exlain some people put an evil slant on this ocassion and that is not what you are about.
Some may argue that is stems from pagon things......many many many things stem from pago/heathen things.
Enjoy the holiday and really God knows the intent in our hearts and He isn't as judgmental as we might think. He created us as creatures that enjoy life. Enjoy

It depends on your level of Christianity. As in all religions, there are those who are surface followers, medium interest believers, and those of total commitment.
Some Christians can earnestly participate in the festivities without any guilt or negative feelings. That is all right for them.
A "medium-level" interest Believer, might take their children to a church "All Saints Day" celebration to collect candy and wear non-offensive costumes so that their children will not feel isolated from the rest of the American culture.
For those who are totally "sold out" to God, and who practice something called "intercession" or "spiritual warfare", the ultimate position to adopt on Halloween is to engage in active praise and worship to God. In the spiritual realm, these activities counteract the negative spiritual forces and activities which culminate on Halloween. Many nature-worshipping and other alternative-religion groups use this holiday to summon ungodly spirits to an active focal point, opening up negative spiritual doors. Those who worship the Living God of the Bible simultaneously counteract the ungodly portals with angelic activity (energized by praise and worship), and therefore make a great impact toward lessening any evil intentions by those not so good-hearted.
I believe the third option is the more powerful and effective spiritual stance and may go a long way toward lessening the number of human sacrifices or other ungodly acts on that particular night.

I am a Christian and I will be out with my 4 year old daughter (who will be the cutest bat in town by the way) trick or treating the same way my dad took me trick or treating many years ago. There's no way I'm hiding. Why give any day over to the devil.

Go out and have a good time. God won't be offended, unless you do something else to offend him.
