The way that I take it is that no true religion would contain fear, and that any fear put into a religion is the construct of man...

I know that it's not true at least some of the time. I don't know if it's true at least some of the time also.

I think a lot of people are "religious" directly because of fear. Some are scared of the unknown afterlife. Heaven is a comfortable belief, and an imaginary escape from the actual truth of not really knowing what does happen after death.

Of course, my answer depends on what your definition of "religion" is. Mirage, if you have time please post your definition of "religion" regarding this question. Thanks.

Ghandi was a wise man however this quote is typical of organized religious brainwashing, let me correct the quote to what it should be.

" Where there is fear, there is religion."

Soin other words in the presence of religion there is no fear. No that doesnt make sense. People fear things no matter who they are, no matter what they believe.

Actually it has been the experience of most people that when you have religion you have fear. Isn't religion behind most wars?

Nah. I'd say: Where there is fear, there is much religion.

A lot of "religions" are made because people are afraid of what will happen to them, and want comfort.

No,

Jehovah's Witnesses fear Jehovah, not man.

Acts 25:9 "29 In answer Peter and the [other] apostles said: "We must obey God as ruler rather than men"

Jehovah's Witnesses continue worship even in places where they are persecuted!
