Who the hell are you to say a dog is 'Mangy'?
Are you a vet?
Just because a dog is stray and has not eaten for a while does not mean you can give it a VERY rare canine desease (look it up. Its not as common as you think!)! Does this mean that you call all starving children in Africa Aids ridden?
They are far more likely to have AIDS than a stray dog is to have Mange!

There is nothing wrong with making the choice to help a dog, or any other animal over helping a child because thats exactly what it is - personal choice. Everyone is entitled to act on what they feel and if you feed the dog, the next 5 people along will feed the child. I'd feed the dog and get it speyed so it couldnt breed and produce more starving dogs. I'd like to do the same to the people that continue to breed children that they know are going to starve. Sterilise the adults and then I will give half to the dog and half to the kids.

Nothing wrong with helping to feed a hungry mangy dog instead of a starving child, all the people who dislike dogs will feed the child so the ones of us who love dogs would be left in peace to feed the poor mangy dog, as much as I would hate to see anyone starving it would break my heart to see a dog starving too, my golden retriever is a rescue dog and was in a house with students who poured beer over her and starved her not only of food but of affection too, give me a dog to feed, I love them, that's why I have a soul and I believe my dog does too.

Help both if you can. As for souls...If having a soul means feeling love and pain then animals have souls, more so than some humans on this planet.

I would say do both.
A child depending at what age can't speak for themselves, nor could an animal. In which case they are both helpless. If you can help one then why not both. We all need help at one point or another, because people can be ANIMALS. I just say treat people as you wish to be treated, same with animals, show them love and affection and they will do the same to you.
GOOD LUCK finding the answer you're looking for. And I hope I helped.

I LOVE animals. I have a dog and two cats. I have so much love for them, but when it comes to a child, the child will get my attention first everytime.
Ive seen this question 3 times now by you and another guy, and I know what youre saying, but tell me.....if you saw YOUR child or anyones child on the street starving, you cant tell me that youre gonna walk past that child to help the dog. That child comes first. If you can help the dog, GREAT! But I just cant believe you could walk past a little child to help a dog first. Thats not even humanly normal.

If you try to remove emotion out of the equation, you should look at the benefit of each. Lets take the worst case scenario and say that your feeding will mean life or death for either. Now look at the benefit to the world if you feed one over the other. While a dogs life is valuable, it is nothing compared to a humans. A person will affect the world and everything around him far more than a dog will. The person doesn't have to do anything wonderful, even if he or she lives a boring average life of 8 to 5 work, he or she will have the larger impact. So, logically, feed the person.
I personally would feed the person for other reasons. But if you try to say that they are of equal value, this is my response to your assertion.

Feed both!!! Both Dog and Child have souls!!!!
Humans are not superior, we just have a lucky break, sometimes! ... we need to look after all of the life on earth, if we don't there isn't gonna be an earth to look after!
