When you registered with a GP they will have received a record of your number and you should have received an NHS medical card with you number on it from your local NHS unit. If you don't have the card then contact your GP and they can look it up for you.

contact the benefits agency or social security office. they will have a note of it. they probably won't give you it over the phone. take id with you to the office.
Other than that check any old letters you my have lying around the house from hospital attendence or benefit claims etc.

You can get your N.H.S. number from, your doctor, your dentist. your N.H.S. registration card, your employer or the Social Security Office ( D.H.S.S.)
