The course is still the same. It is just the trip that is being changed. Different rest stops. Different places to gas up. Different restaurants in which to dine. If we got out of Iraq before we have accomplished our goals, it could not be construed as anything but a defeat. Cutting and running would be a defeat. He is changing because the military commanders have suggested it. Nothing more and nothing less.

i think you may be a bit right in each answer you've given. that or maybe bush has finally woke up and saw that things aren't going so well and too many are dying, american or not. i think that the deception from the bush administration continues and will until he is no longer in office. my guess is we won't really know what happened till quite a few years from now....in regard to the comparison to korea and vietnam, don't let history repeat itself...do what you can to help prevent those soldiers coming home to protestors! i saw on a jacket the phrase "the country that forgets it's defenders, will itself be forgotten!" that is totally true, so tell a solider thank you (whether you agree with the politics or not) and show your support, the best thing we can offer is gratitude and support.

He's changing coarse because the old one is simply not working. The amount of Americans killed in October should be the best indicator of that.
He may finally realize that Donald Rumsfeld is over his head, and needs to retire. It's time for young blood. People who are open minded and listen to their subordinates when they speak.
He may be ready (finally) to put into place that old axiom, "loose lips sink ships." First though, he needs to line up the media and have them all shot. Maybe then, we can get security for our troops.
Things will change, and we may never know how, when. or why. And, that's a good thing. It is because we aren't supposed to know and neither are those damn ragheads supposed to know. It's called the element of surprise, and do you know what, it's a very effective strategy.

Bush is just blowing hot air...Bush will never change the course as long as his oil and war profiteers are reaping the benefits on an unstable Iraq. We can tell by this because he has never ONCE appeared at a dead GI's funeral.
However he will provide more lip service about his concerns in Iraq in order to get more votes from moderates.

It's a combination of b + c. It's a lie just before the elections to soften up some borderline independents. After the election it will be business as usual.
He couldn't be honest if his life depended on it.

I have seen no less than three headlines in the last week of him saying,"will not change course"
This was sent me by an old high school friend, until now a right-winger.

Tell them because their fathers lied."

He is not changing the course...he's modifying tatic...BIG DIFFERENCE. Just like how Libs wanted a timetable...nope...thats a bad idea. A timeline is what we need, not a time table.
