holistic care means treating the whole person, not just the symtpoms or certain parts.

I am a Christian so I don't believe that this can be accomplished by one who does not believe that we have a spirit and a soul- the condition of your spirit and soul will affect your physical health and these aspects should be taken into account.

At the very least, a nurse that is a nonbeliever should consider that a persons emotional health, their diet, and certain aspects of their daily life are going to have an impact on their physical well being and not take these issues for granted when caring for a patient. Also, regardless of what the nurse believes, she should have compassion and respect regarding what the patients spiritual beliefs are without operating in prejudice or judgementalism.

You can do what Florence Nightingale did. Make sure the patient is in a healthy enviornment as best you can and they will get better. Hard to do under the current health care model when, as in LA., they throw the poor out on skid row so they can make room for the rich, and then make RNs have 60 patients per shift.

Look in the yellow pages or on the internet for attorneys in your area that specialize in medical malpractice. Its usually free to meet with an attorney to review your case to see if it will hold up in court. From what you described, the only thing that seems out of the ordinary is an implied guarantee that the treatment would work. Otherwise, its not malpractice just because a cancer treatment didn't work. Cancer treatments don't always work even if the doctor does everything correctly.

holistic? where did you get thatcrap. Nurses are supposed to respect their patients and do what ever is needed to keep them comfortable until they are healed. Holistic assumes not using modrn medicines. believe me, when I'm in pain, I want morphine, not a massage and accupuncture.
