Well, it just irks me because they are so backward with their beliefs that they have to remain covered up, yet they drive and do everything else someone normal does like talk on a cell phone with that ridiculous veil completely covering everything but their eyes. It is just annoying. If women are so low then why would they be allowed to do so many things alone? They need to stay hidden because normal people should be using cell phones and buy fast food, not these religious zealots.

SHACHA, try wearing that thing in the middle of a heat wave. It is not economical, or reasonable, that is my point, why don't they just use a good old fashioned pay phone?

They like the things the West has made (Mercedes, BMW, cellphones, computers) but dislike Westerners and their beliefs. Hypocritical isn't it. One thing that cracks me up is when you see serious Muslims eating at McDonalds! Ok I suppose the women couldn't eat since their mouths are covered up but the men can.

Well, Muslim women are not treated low but equal in Islam under every cirumstance. How can I argue with you about something good/bad about Muslim women and their hijab when you don't as well as many other Christians are suppose to do? Think, eversince the wave of many New and Old Christian Immigrants, they came wearing a headcovering just like the Muslim Women do today? If you really think it is really weird and "irks" you, go open your history book and see if there are any suffrage activist leave their home without their hat on.
Also, How can you justify the commands when you don't believe wyat the commander told you in your book, the Bible. IF you see during the past 2000 years, Christian Women wear always covered up and wore similar adornments like a nun would. God told the Jews, Christians and the Muslims to cover and if you have a problem with that.
According to Islam, the Male Bias Myth which they claim men are better then women are all bole. Both Genders are incomparable. Neither is better or worse. If you were to compare, it would be like comparing apples and oranges because both genders are told specific rules and duties which God Almighty ordained them to. This applies to the Women covering and the Men leaving their beard on.
Also, Women and Men are both equal in Islam spiritually because God told his followers in clear words "Oh men and women", "Oh children of Adam", etc. Also, doing a good dutie does not mean one sex is higher then another. They both get equal amounts of duties regardless of gender/sex.
These days, the west especially the US see Muslim women "oppressed" when they really aren't. If they are oppressed, ask the Rabbis and Nuns who also follow similar coverings and practices that was told by God to them. Did you see any of them being oppressed?
Also, America has no religion whatsoever. The only religion that exists in America is Humanism and Heathenism. If it were a true "Christian" country, we would not be facing problems such as (NO I am not a homophobic) gay men preaching in churches, women being raped constantly, murders, high consumption of alcohol, etc. because Christians are against these sins.
Religious zealots are mistakened as evil and hating men but they just want to bring the fear in God onto you to see the true light which is found.
Islam is a very easy religion. IF you want to know more about Islam, why don't you just worship to God. That's it then go on the secondary and tertiary subjects because after that you will understand what I mean. God is truly all-forgiving and all-beneficent.

It irks you because it's so different, isn't it. Your profile says you are different from most. Well, then, accept differences. No, it doesn't irk me to see a Muslim woman all covered up talking on a cell phone. That image shows a nice mix of tradition and modern things. Your comparing that image to an Amish using a PC is flawed because Muslims are not against high-tech but Amish people are. Get use to it, I suggest.

Remeber that muslim women covered up is a byproduct of their male dominated culture. Technology will help cause that culture to adapt to the modren world. Maybe not as fast as we would like to see the changes, but compared to hundreds of years of cultural indoctriniation of women as second class citizens, then give them more cell phones and comuputers and internet access. It's hard to control a population if they have access to all forms of information and cell phones, computers and the internet will help to free the world. You can see the People's REpublic of CHina working on how they can control information without killing the goose that laid the golden egg (capitalism); can you imagine that the PPRC will be less free in 20 years? I think not. Communications Technology is changing the world and in the long run will make it a freer and better place.

The women cover themselves up because in the Islam faith only the man the women is married to is allowed to see her hair. Some conservative Muslims go for a whole body veil and some don't even wear a veil.
Either way many consider it to be a beautiful thing, only letting the man you love see your hair or face. If you see a women wearing a veil in a free country then it was most likely her choice to dress that way. Should we condemn someone for dressing more modestly then others? Of course not.

Why don't you look a little deeper at the situation. I don't agree that a woman should be covered to be holy or righteous because no man made covering can make someone holy. Holiness is in the heart. But these women are taught from the time of being small girls that they will be punished and will hang by their hair in the fires of hell. They are taught these sort of things and it is drilled into their heads so much that they are afraid to go out without the covering. You have to see them with sympathy not with anger. God loves them as He does you and the Truth of Jesus would set them free if only they can know it and believe it. They are to be pitied.

why does it bother you this is part of there culture and it probably bothers them to see some women running around in short shorts and blouses that lets their busts show and. leave their belly button showing but I doubt they would make any comments about it. It is one of the way some people dress here and they most likely would respect that. And not all Muslim women wear the veil a lot of them dress the way they dress in the western world. except probably more conservative then we do.

I don't like full veiling, either, just aesthetically.
That said, a Muslim girl I tutored, who wore a headscarf and tried to dress "modestly" (nothing too short or tight), said that if she didn't dress that way, her father would have sent her to a Muslim school, and not the math/science magnet school she was attending. She said having to wear a bit more cloth than other girls was a fair trade for having more freedom than she might have otherwise. Perhaps these women also have parents like that?

HAHAHA yes! I think its funny when Muslims do anything strongly associated with western culture, cause it just seems to contradictory. But l think u need to calm down there will all the normal people talk, thats just plain ethnocentric. Muslim women are entitled to their religious heritage, but l just dont understand how you assimilate into American soceity and still wear veils. But take it easy on em would ya.

No; but I'm so sad to read that someone like you would give that much power to another over your emotions. You must not have much time for your own life if it is taken up by such negative concern for others. Not to mention all the negative chemicals running through your body, aging you as you experience all those negative emotions.
