Last time I used Alaska Air, but the plane was small, old and uncomfortable, what is the best (cost, and comfort) airline to use?

Small, old and uncomfortable? Are you expecting a 747 or something on that leg? If you are, you'll be sorely disappointed, as you'll find that all airlines flying that route fly the roughly same-sized plane (737, A320-series).

Among those listed above, I'd fly Alaska anytime (and just did, yesterday).

United is not bad. I do not know if they have Premum Service to Vancouver but even coach in Premium Service is nice. Prices are comparable to Alaska.

According to Wikipedia, here are some (I have not flown these routes, but I hope these help though):

-WestJet (discount airline, but I believe you get a TV)

-Air Canada

-United Airlines

Good luck and happy travels! :-)
