I have a pomeranian and a rat terrier and usually feed them one time around 4:30-5pm. Is this okay or do they need to eat more than this?

Twice a day and follow the feeding guide on the side of the food bag.

You can check with your vet or read the guide line on the dog food bag. You should feed at least twice a day and around 1/2 cup. Im not sure what brand food you use but I recommend either
Medi-Cal Preventive or Hills c/d. Both very good and can only get through your vet. It will keep your dogs at the weight they should be and prevent any other health problems as they age.
Of course always keep lots of clean fresh water avaiable for them.

It is hard to say as I don't know the breed of dog. When I got mine I had a hard time finding out. I got the breed book and it did not tell so I got a hold of a breed specific animal rescue and called and ask as my breed of dog is unusual and I did not get it from a breeder or know of one. (I have a Italian Greyhound ) I keep food for her down twice a day and feed her 1/4 cup at a time she doesn't always eat all of it but some days she does

i have had more than a dozen at a time, i always kept a container full of food, they eat until they are not hungry. then they leave until they are hungry again. they dont just keep eating until they explode. if you keep the food outside you need to put it up on something that will make the ants have to go upside down to climb into it (they dont like that). with 14 dogs at one time on 7.5 acres, it would have been impossible to feed a little bit a few times a day. Put some grated garlic in their food - it keeps fleas off of them and improves their coat

Once a day is fine for any size dog, though some prefer to feed 2 smaller meals.

3 times a day breakfast lunch and dinner. Maybe you could feed them some little meals in between.

It really depends on the size and age of the pet.Small pups should be fed twice a day,and if just beed weaned, three times a day.Larger breeds can be fed only once a day.Go by directions on the food container on amount.
