The "BIGGEST" earthquake in nearly 100 years was in Kalapana in 1975 on November 29th with a magnitude 7.2. The earthquake killed two people, injuring several, and inflicting property damage estimated at $4.1 million in Hawaii (including damage caused by the tsunami). It was accompanied by a damaging tsunami, massive ground movements, hundreds of aftershocks, and a brief, small-volume volcanic eruption. The earthquake was felt throughout Hawaii Island, and on Lanai, Molokai, and Oahu.
